Uplift Teacher Contract
This form is a legally binding agreement between instructors and Uplift Central Oregon. This contract must be completed by every instructor before teaching a class for Uplift Central Oregon. Any questions should be directed to the Uplift director. By filling in and initialing the following questions you agree to all guidelines as set forth by the Uplift Central Oregon.
I understand instructors operate as independent contractors and not employees of Uplift, therefore are not entitled to benefits including but not limited to health insurance or workers compensation.
Money collection & refund policy: all monies for classes must be collected by the instructor. Instructors can choose when to accept funds and can create agreements for payment plans throughout the term directly with families. Instructors can also set-up payment with Uplift, a charter school or even wave fees for students. It is the instructor’s responsibility to follow all tax requirements for monies received. Uplift accepts no liability for unpaid class tuitions. Uplift will not require any accounting information from instructors.
Instructors must abide by all Uplift guidelines. In addition, all instructors are expected to understand and support the educational philosophy of Uplift and to work conscientiously and professionally to carry out the same mission, goals, and objectives of Uplift.
Instructors must NOT teach anything that would be in direct conflict with the Uplift Statement of Faith.
Instructors must notify the administrative team two weeks prior to the start of classes if unforeseen circumstances arise to prevent them from teaching their class and issue a full refund for any paid tuition.
Instructors will work professionally and to the best of their abilities to teach their students as efficiently as possible, being prepared and adhering to the responsibilities required of their class tier (co-op, core, specialty, workshop, elective, or private teacher).
Instructors must abide by the same dress code as students and can dress in a casual but professional manner. For women shirts should be a modest cut with no exposed undergarments. If wearing leggings please make sure your shirt is long enough to cover your bottom. Modest length shorts are fine but please no yoga pants (unless teaching fitness). For men slacks or shorts are fine as long as appearance is business casual. Shirts must be worn at all times.
Instructors will come to any mandatory teacher meetings or notify leadership and make a plan to get information presented before the meeting occurs.
Instructors agree to do a background check and agree to Uplifts Private Membership Association.
Teachers agree not to discriminate against any student on the basis of race, gender, or age.
Instructors must place one substitute teaching plan on file before classes begin. This plan can include a video from Amazon Prime or Youtube video or a full lesson to be taught with all reading materials & worksheets printed out and placed on file. Sub plan must be enough material to fill the full class session. Instructors must be prepared to pay a sub teacher $20 per class from their own earnings for a 60 minute class and $30 for a 90 minute class. We are a volunteer supported site so we cannot afford to cover sub fees from Uplift funding.
Instructors are permitted one class cancellation per term due to extenuating circumstances. An additional sub plan will be requested once the instructor misses 1 class. If a second class is missed a sub must be paid again and will use the second sub plan and consult with administration about the missed classes. If three or more classes need to be canceled the instructor must meet with the admin team to decide how to move forward. In this case the class may be permanently canceled and students refunded the remaining funds for unfulfilled classes, or a sub/ replacement teacher may be decided on to hold missed classes and receive payment for those classes from the original instructor, or an alternative plan may be put in place. Administration will have the final say in deciding what is in the best interest of the students if this situation arises.
Any type of concerns an instructor has regarding abuse or criminal activity involving a minor should be disclosed to the Uplift director within 24 hours of becoming aware of the issue. This includes issues with drug use, underage drinking, porn usage, abuse, or neglect as well as targeted bullying. Any type of serious legal issues should be reported according to state mandated legal protocol. We do strongly encourage all teachers if they are suspicious of an issue to keep an open line of communication with the following Uplift leaders Christy Villa Uplift Teen director and/or Cassie Johnson Uplift director.
If students are exhibiting dangerous or destructive behaviors or foul language any adult may give students a calm verbal correction and then notify designated instructors and or parents in charge of the students of the incident. Issues between students of verbal conflict or annoying behaviors should be reported and handled by instructors and Uplift administration.
Teachers must abide by the set sick policy as outlined in the guidelines including not teaching if you have had a fever, diarrhea, or other contagious disease within 24 hrs.
Uplift reserves the right to terminate relationships with any teacher not following these set guidelines and rules.
I have read the statements above and believe all of them to be true.
