What is Uplift Teens?

Uplift Teens is an extension of the Uplift community specifically designed to Uplift and support students in 6th-12th grade. A variety of classes and social activities are open for students aged 12 years and up. Teen Program classes meet on Tuesdays at Real Life church and are drop off style classes. Most events are drop off events although we rely on parent volunteers to make our program a success. Additionally, students in this age range can also participate in Community day or Resource classes which are a different part of the Uplift program.

Uplift Teens exists because we see a need in Central Oregon to support families of homeschooled teens academically, socially, and spiritually. We also see a great need for parents of teens to find ways to connect with one another so this year we will be providing monthly parents meetings to help support parents. Here are all the benefits our Teen program offers

  • A weekly variety of academic and enrichment courses taught by seasoned teachers and experienced parents

  • On-site tutoring and private music lessons on Tuesdays

  • Weekly Chapel with Teen worship band for students

  • Monthly social activities like Chickfila Game Night, S’winter Luau, Holiday parties & more!

  • Local serving opportunities specially for teens and also open for parents/families

  • Mission trip opportunity for 2026 open to teens and possibly their entire family

  • Lending library for curriculum and educational tools for high school students such as scientific calculators and more!

  • Monthly parent support meetings

  • Academic advising support to help parents choose classes/curriculum, understand testing/state guidelines and create a solid transcript for their high school student

  • Yearly Faith-based local Homeschool Graduation Ceremony

Family Commitment Expectations

Students all are expected to have respectful conduct toward peers, teachers, & parents as well as have self-respect to care for themselves.

All students are required to abide by the dress code and behavioral guidelines

Students must be capable and willing to stay in classes or stay with the group for social activities and outreach opportunities. We will provide supervision but cannot chase down students who choose to leave the group.

All payments for Uplift Teen classes must be paid directly to the teachers at their chosen due date before classes begins or payments must be made on time in a payment schedule arranged by the teacher before the school year begins.

Parents are expected to be in contact with teachers prior to class to make sure students have all required materials. Parents should maintain contact with teachers through the year to make sure students are completing required work.

We want to Uplift parents not replace them. Your teens need your prayers, your listening ear, they need you to serve God alongside them being the hands and feet of Jesus. We also need your help to run this program well. In order for us to invest in your kids we need you to also invest in our program through minimal volunteer time.

Parent Volunteer Commitment: Parents please plan to volunteer 1-2 times per semester on Tuesdays for a 2 hour block of time. You may bring a book or laptop to work on for part of the time and siblings can hangout if needed. Parents help supervise our lunch hour and the passing period before and after lunch. If you cannot serve on Tuesdays we have other times we need your help to supervise teens at social events or setup/tear down for these events.

As Uplift members we all agree to contend for unity between members and work to resolve any challenges that may arise from a biblical perspective.
